“Horm Klin Lan”
“Horm Klin Lan” reinterprets the heart of Roi Et through architecture, transforming intangible elements such as “scent” and “way of life” into a physical experience that can truly be perceived and felt.
The project draws inspiration from the jasmine rice of Thung Kula Ronghai, a treasured local product renowned for its unique identity, especially its distinctive fragrance. This characteristic became the foundation of the concept “Olfactory Architecture” — architecture experienced through the sense of smell.
The design aims to create an experience beyond visual perception by seamlessly connecting spaces, allowing the aroma of rice to circulate naturally throughout the entire area. The spaces are also designed with flexibility in mind, enabling them to adapt to different activities and user needs.
In addition, the project incorporates natural materials with their own distinctive scents and textures to stimulate the senses holistically — sight, taste, smell, sound, and touch. More than simply a functional space, the architecture becomes an immersive experience that reconnects people with the local identity, culture, and way of life in a meaningful and memorable way.
